On July 16th, the Teramo Triathlon Team organizes, in Alfedena, located in the Alto Sangro and the high plane of Cinquemiglia, in the Abruzzo, Lazio and Molise National Park, the second edition of the Sanniti Triathlon. The race course features outstanding natural characteristics as only a green region as Abruzzi possesses.
A one-lap swim segment in the mountain lake which waters are as transparent and light blue as the sky itself. The bike course is quite difficult, in this way the strong cycling triathletes will take good advantage of it. 3 laps of about 13 km and, in each lap the athletes will have to do a 350 meters of pavè road and a tract unpaved of about 300 meters. The cycling course resembles for its difficulties a classical bike race of northern Europe. The one-lap final run is quite easy and slightly descends for 7 km to the finish line, located in the center of the little town of Alfedena.
The Teramo Triathlon Team is one of the first Italian Triathlon Teams born in 1991, that has been organizing events for 27 years and, was able to find many young triathlon talents among which stands out Jonathan Ciavattella who in this season races for the PPRTEAM of Gianfranco Mione.
The young athletes are trained in the Campo Scuola of Teramo that is managed by the Gruppo Podistico Amatori of Teramo and the Athletic Club Gran Sasso and in the swimming pool of the Sport Center Interamnia of Teramo. Not to forget because only our past makes us the way we are now in the present, Felice Scarnecchia starts his career as a triathlete and competed in the first Italian Triathlon in Ostia (Rome), September of 1984, finishing 3rd, then élite triathlete until 1993. By that time, he decided to dedicate himself completely to the development of his Team, which main objective is that of finding young talents and promoting the beauty of the Abruzzi region which possesses as fabulous places as the most appreciated and visited American National Parks.
